About Kuźnia
Kuźnia Rzemiosł Dawnych is a place where we preserve old traditions such as baking, beekeeping, and woodworking. Our headquarters in the Land of Extinct Volcanoes is located in the charming village of Dobków, on the border of the Kaczawskie Mountains and Foothills. We have carefully renovated and adapted Stara Kuźnia here, which serves as our workspace, and we organize creative workshops for children and adults in it.
Figure gingerbread
Based on an old recipe, we revive the forgotten art of Traditional Gingerbread Baking. Each batch of fresh gingerbread is made according to a centuries-old recipe. We pay great attention to what we use to create our aromatic works of art – we obtain honey from our own apiary, carefully select spices, and only source flour from a trusted mill. There’s no room for haste here because each craft requires time. In our workshop, we not only create traditional, long-aging gingerbread dough but also intricate and detailed wooden gingerbread molds, which we carve ourselves. We use them for pressing gingerbreads during gingerbread workshops or woodworking demonstrations.
Wooden gingerbread molds
In the workshop, we also create gingerbread molds. They are usually made on a linden or pearwood board. The first step is always a design on paper, which is then transferred to the board. This is where meticulous and slow work begins. Piece by piece, the designed pattern is created on the board. At Kuźnia, you will see a variety of different molds, ranging from classic cars to detailed flower bouquets or facades of characteristic buildings from the region.
Honeys
The honey used for baking at Kuźnia comes from our backyard apiary. We independently manage the entire process and take care of several beehives located nearby. We are committed to ensuring that our bees are comfortable and well-cared for here, and the honey produced by them tastes good to everyone 🙂
Workshops and Explorer’s Passport
Since January 2023, we have also been organising gingerbread workshops. Available workshop dates can be found on the events calendar. Our workshop can accommodate up to 15 people. We invite you to get in touch! For participating in our workshops, you will receive a stamp in the Explorer’s Passport or the Passport itself.
