Chrośnica is a themed village located in the Kaczawskie Mountains, in the valley of the Lipka stream, which flows from beneath Łysa Góra. Its history dates back to the 13th century. It is a place where time seems to slow down, and old stories intertwine with everyday life. Among half-timbered houses, old barns and timber-framed buildings, you can discover traces of the past and feel the peaceful rhythm of a mountain village. Chrośnica’s black thread is represented by five penitential crosses standing around the church.
At the heart of this story is the Ecomuseum of Weaving and Natural Dyeing — a living space of tradition, where old craftsmanship is more than just a memory. Here, you can see relics of time: tools, fabrics and stories of the work of former inhabitants, as well as take part in weaving and natural dyeing workshops yourself.
Centuries ago, Chrośnica was known for its weaving traditions and the production of high-quality linen cloth. Today, these skills come back to life in the ecomuseum. Participants learn the journey of flax from plant to fibre, discover the basics of weaving and explore the colours hidden in nature. In the dye garden grow plants that were once used to dye fabrics.
The colourful threads of Chrośnica also lead to the Book Cabinet, standing by the road and inviting visitors to rest and read. The blue tourist trail continues towards Okole — a viewpoint where pillow lavas can be found.
Chrośnica invites you to slow down, touch tradition and travel back in time. It is a village where history, nature and craftsmanship are woven into a calm, colourful story.
