For the past three years, the Land of Extinct Volcanoes Geopark has been hosting the Kaczawski Travel Festival “Awakening Extinct Volcanoes.” During the festival, travelers associated with our region talk about their journeys to distant corners of the world but also about their travels in the Land of Extinct Volcanoes. This year, in connection with the region joining the family of UNESCO Global Geoparks, the entire event will be dedicated to the Kaczawskie Mountains and Foothills as an integral part of Lower Silesia – our Geopark is the only Global Geopark in Lower Silesia and the third in Poland. This year’s Kaczawski Travel Festival is intended to introduce the new UNESCO Global Geopark Land of Extinct Volcanoes in a comprehensive, collective way to locals who have not yet had time to get to know the region’s values, not always knowing that it belongs to the family of UNESCO Geoparks. Only a sense of identity with the region, identification with it, will increase the care for our natural, historical and cultural heritage, and this will ensure the continued existence of the Geopark in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network. The proposed attractions cover all age groups. And most importantly, the speakers will be the locals themselves, who have been exploring its secrets for many years. During the festival, there will be an opportunity to taste local products, which will be prepared by local producers in the form of refreshments. It will also be possible to listen to local musicians and watch a photo show prepared by Geopark residents.

The festival will be held at the Geoscience Center in Dobków (Dobków 66, Świerzawa municipality).
