The currently closed quarry is located near the main road in Wojcieszów Górny, on the southwest slope of the Miłek Mountain. It is located within the ‘Góra Miłek’ reserve.
It is a large, inactive quarry where the extraction of Wojcieszów limestones took place on five levels. In the lower part of the excavation, rocks characterized by a light, creamy color, slightly streaked, massive, without distinct bedding are visible; in some places, thick beds can be observed. In the upper part of the quarry, a darker variety is present. The walls of the quarry are occasionally intersected by dislocations. One of the fault zones, with a width reaching up to 3 metres, is filled with a large vein featuring well-formed calcite crystals. This vein is located at an elevation of 395 metres above sea level.
In the quarry, karst phenomena can be observed. One of the more popular caves is ‘Aven,’ the entrance to which is located in the ceiling of the first level, and the exit is situated at the wall at the base of the quarry. Its length is approximately 32 metres, with a vertical drop of 17 metres. It was formed in the Paleogene when karst processes were developing. The cave, shaped like a trench, has a not very rich speleothem decoration in the form of limestone draperies.
